December… one of the busiest and most stressful times for adults and also one of the lowest attendance months at the gym. This is the month that all the parents (and Santa) will take on all the stress of Christmas shopping so that their kids have the best Christmas ever!
At the same time, the gym is the biggest stress RELIEF, yet we don’t make this a priority this month due to all the hustling around shopping. Busy shopping usually means we need something quick to eat, so fast food it is. On top of this, we are going be tempted like no other with cookies, candies, and alcohol.
This is where the new year’s resolution comes in. “On January 1st, I am going to stick strict to a diet so I can lose all this weight I put on.”
This is why I say December is the most important time to have a coach.
Here are some benefits of having a coach right now:
- A coach can help keep you accountable and make sure you are showing up for classes or your personal training sessions.
- A coach can help you find ways to squeeze shorter workouts in to your busy schedule.
- A nutrition coach help you navigate the temptations of sweets and junk food.
- A nutrition coach can help build in some “earned meals” so you can enjoy some tasty treats, but not over do it.
- A coach can give you realistic expectations so you don’t get frustrated and give up.
- A coach can give you a plan for both your fitness and your nutrition which may look different during this month compared to others.
I just met with a few of my clients last week before thanksgiving to build a plan through the end of the year. Each client’s journey looks different. What is the same though, is each client now has a plan to follow, and if the train gets derailed for some reason, they have a coach to guide them every step of the way.
Having a coach throughout the year is a good idea. Having a coach through the holidays is a GREAT idea.. and for some of us, it’s a must!
